A museum on former Chief Minister M G Ramachandran was declared open by PWD Minister Durai Murugan at his memorial in Chennai recently. State Minister Parithi Ilamvazhuthi said that the museum was constructed at a cost of Rs 38.50 lakh. Articles used by the MGR and rare photographs of the late leader were on display at the museum. Former Minister R M Veerappan, former MP S. Jagathrakshegan, and AVM Saravanan thanked the Government for opening the museum. Fans of MGR are thronging the museum in large numbers every day.

The first Dr B Saroja Devi National Award given under the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavana was presented to Dr Anjali Devi, Jamuna Ramana Rao and Harini N Rao by Karnataka Chief Minister on Sunday morning in a memorable morning show. The recipients received Rs.1 lakh cash award, shawl, garland, trophy and fruit basked from chief minister Dr BS Yediyurappa. Dr Jayamala, Jayanthi, Meena with her husband, Hema Chaudhary, Doddanna, MN Lakshmi Devi, B Jaya, Sudarshan and Shylasri, Rajesh and others were present at the awards celebration. Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan chairman Ramanujam and scholar Mathur Krishnamurthy also spoke on this occasion. .
